PREPARE hosted Professor Zhang Wenhong, one of China’s leading infectious disease experts, for a talk on “How were pandemics stopped and how to prepare?”. Held at Ng Teng Fong Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI) on 15 November 2024, Professor Zhang shared his insights on pandemic preparedness and response, offering insights on challenges in combating past infectious disease outbreaks. At the talk, he emphasised the importance of pandemic preparedness by drawing lessons from past pandemics. He also shared best practices that can be adopted during peacetime (i.e. non-pandemic period) to ensure timely and effective response to future outbreaks. The talk was attended by 73 attendees from academia and hospitals in Singapore.
Professor Zhang gained international recognition for his pivotal role in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in China. With decades of invaluable clinical and research experience, he is an expert in pandemic management and public health.
